Today we’re posting a video featuring Sergeant Major Raymond Chandler III. He speaks, in this video, of his experience with post-traumatic stress (PTS). After getting up from his desk and walking toward the door, a rocket came in and blew up while he was still in the room. The SgtMaj began to shut down and display symptoms that are not unusual for veterans returning from combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The SgtMaj talks about making many decisions that were not in his best interest. Because Chandler stepped up and sought help, his career has flourished and he has inspired many others to seek help. Reaching out to get help was a monumental step. He said that receiving care from the behavioral healthcare counseling professionals at Fort Bliss, TX “made a significant difference in my life”. [US Medicine (Voice of Federal Medicine)] Sgt Maj Chandler is an inspiration and we post a video of his story here with permission of our partners at the Real Warriors Campaign.
